News from our last meeting.
We had one new member at the last meeting and Kerri told us how the auditions went for the play that she and Mary have written. They still need a couple of male actors and a few people to help out back stage and with the making of props and scenery, so if you’re interested see July’s newsletter for details on how to get involved.
You will find all 2005’s newsletters posted on our FABULOUS new website that’s now finished and I have learnt how to maintain (sort of). This will enable me to make sure that all our latest news, photos and interesting information is kept up to date. Make sure you check it out regularly as I’ve already added a few items, such as a new research study for our newly diagnosed members. I’d like to thank the team at Web Ideas for all their help and the great price they gave us on the cost of designing and getting the website up and running. They have been very patient, informative and available when I have needed advice or help so make sure you give them a call for all your website needs on 9873 5093 and tell them you’re a Young One.
Rita went to the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia Conference in Hobart to represent Breast Cancer Network Australia's Young Women's Working Party and to speak about the issues that face young women affected by breast cancer. She was pleased to get some really positive feedback from the nurses after her presentation and said that they really need and want to hear our issues and perspective.
Some of you may have seen Lynne and me on Good Morning Australia with Bert Newton and Dean from Big Brother (what a spunk). We both felt very glamorous after having our hair and make up done by the ladies at channel 10 and then sitting down for a chat with Bert on National TV. Lynne asked me to join her after being invited by channel 10 to show off her new sleep wear range and explain what motivated her to design it for ladies who have had breast surgery. Watching myself on TV the next day, as it’s pre recorded was like having a tooth filled with no anesthetic, slow and painful but well done to Lynne who handled herself like a pro. Lynne’s sleep wear website link is also on our new website.
I mentioned the Otis ball in the last newsletter asking those interested in the reduced price tickets of $30 a head all inclusive to get in touch with me. I will be booking our tables at the end of the month so if you’re interested in joining us please let me know ASAP. For more info see last months newsletter.
Saturday Arvo Group.
The next group lunch is Saturday 20th August at 12.30pm, Café CoCo 129 Smith Street Collingwood.
Our last lunch ended up being in the back room again which we find very cozy. We had a long lunch with a couple of glasses of wine great food and lots of shared info and laughs. It was nice to see founding members, some who are now over 45 encouraging new members and sharing their stories and tips with each other. If you’re thinking of joining us for the next one could you let me know please as I may need to book the upstairs room. I look forward to meeting more of you soon.

Sad news.
Dianne Wilson, a wonderful person and a very active member of our group passed away peacefully last week. Di was a caring person who helped to empower us by sharing her experience, strength and courage which was inspirational. We will miss her smile, passion for life and love of adventure. Sadly being part of a cancer support group means that some times we meet people that don’t beat this disease. I find that even though this makes me angry and sad, it also motivates me to live my life to the fullest and take advantage of every minute of every day just because I still can. Tanya Wilson
She is gone.
You can shed a tear that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back or you can open your eyes and see what she left behind.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she’s gone or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back or you can do what she would want and smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
Rest peacefully Dianne, your struggle is over.
